Excellent meal in a lovely setting. The lunch menu was fantastic and really struck lucky that the Coffin Bay lobsters were a special. Dressed with finger lime and fig juice đź‘Ś.
This place is located next to the local nursery in tea tree gully towards the hills. It is surrounded by greenery and the view is nice.
I booked a tasting(forage) menu($120pp) for my mum's birthday on Saturday for 2 of us. I booked online, the staff said if I change the menu to a la carte, I will loose my deposit which is $20 per person. So I stayed on tasting menu.
There was home made bread with home made butter, comes with warm olives. It was so delicious.
Then comes 3 dishes of snacks for share. They are all nice, but I liked the fish finger more than other 2 dishes. The green plant on the fish finger looked like spring onion, but tasted like succulent plant, it was interesting.
After the snacks came the mains. The first is char grilled asparagus, it was lovely. The octopus with chili crunch was amazing, probably my favourite dish from what we had. The flavour, the texture were top notch. The leek was interesting too, tasted like eggplant, very soft. Then comes the last main which is the kangaroo with onion. The meat is very tender, I can taste red wine in there.
Last but not least, comes the dessert - berry cheesecake with rhubarb and spiced nuts. It was lovely and beautiful too.
The only thing I would pick is that the food and service were too slow. We booked the table at 12:30pm, but we only finished all food at around 3:15pm. The bread came half hour later upon arrival. I understand it was busy, but maybe we can be served and attended a bit faster after we sat down.
Overall we had a good experience, the food and presentation were amazing, staff were friendly and helpful. And the atmosphere was lovely and warm. Would love to try their pizza next time.
An amazing place to stop by at any time during the day to try their fabulous food, wonderful service and very friendly staff!!
All dishes ordered were full of flavours including the home made sourdough bread and butter...which I never eat but was so soft I took a bite!! The special of the day...kingfish was incredible and every mouthful made me want more!!
Definitely be going back to explore new flavours and that amazing garden!!! đź’Żđź‘Ť
The service was very slow and not attentive. The table next to us came after us and their plates were cleaned when they finished, but all our empty plates were left unattended. We waited for our dessert for more than 30 mins and I followed up, was told it would still take a while. We cancelled it the dessert as the atmosphere of the restaurant is nothing special. It’s pretty much a cafe vibe with fine dining service speed but very ordinary food quality.
4 adults and one child went there for lunch on a weekday, having booked well in advance. What a beautiful spot and such a treat being a part of Newman's Nursery, so made for a fabulous setting.
The food was sensational and even more so with smallish lunchtime serves rather t hrh an big pub size plates.
The service also was excellent. I will make a point of going again and taking friends.
Awesome place! Located right next to Newman's Nursery, this cafe is a peaceful hidden gem. The food was excellent with a big range of little sharing plates, mains, kids options and drinks. While you're waiting for food you can explore the nursery (great for kids to expend some energy).
Fine dining quality food at cafe price! I firstly visit Topiary when I visit Newman’s Nursery to have a quick bite. Now, I visit Newman’s Nursery when I have eat and drink at Topiary. The standard of food quality is phenomenal. I would say it is almost fine dining level, but price is very reasonable for what you pay for. What I mostly like is that they focus onto seasonal produces. Fresh seasonal ingredients are always the first step to the good food. There are quite interesting choices for breakfast and lunch, but I miss their scones though which is no longer available on the current menu. Nicely set in leafy surroundings and plenty of natural light even in indoor plus enjoy shopping for your garden at Newman’s Nursery. Highly recommend!
What a great way to spend a mid-autumn lunch. The produce was excellent and prepared carefully. Figs with whipped feta and cured pork were delicious. We also had the tommy ruff and the lamb pie, both of which were great. Nice, laid-back service too. Highly recommended.
